Biography:

I am Lauren Garrett from a small rural town in Ohio called West Unity with a population of around 1,700 people. I attend The Ohio State University to pursue a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance. I was enrolled in dance classes at the age of three, but didn’t start taking dance seriously until the age of 14. My home dance studio is Bryan Community School of Dance in Bryan, Ohio. Kimberly Schaffer was my main instructor, and she trained me in Ballet, Lyrical, Tap, and Jazz for more than 13 years. She also taught me

many life lessons through dance that I still follow to this day. At this studio I was also introduced to Modern techniques by both Emily Eschhofen and Capri Parrish for around 5 years. I then studied under the direction of Nigel Burgoine and Ann Marie Getz at the Ballet Theatre of Toledo for 3 years. I have performed in Ballet Theatre of Toledo’s Nutcracker, The Little Mermaid, and Music Under the Stars. I have been involved with

various summer intensives including BalletMet,

Interlochen, North Carolina School of the Arts, and the Joffrey Ballet. I have also been fortunate enough to take a master class with Alvin Alley 2. Now I am under the instruction of Ann Sofie Clemmenson and Dr. Harmony Bench at The Ohio State University’s Department of Dance.
